Jewish Care’s residents, community centre and dementia day centre members, volunteers and staff celebrated the Coronation as one big family. Together, they planted King Charles III rosebushes and Coronation tea parties across the campuses and care homes.
To celebrate this historic moment together, the charity’s catering team baked and iced over 1000 cakes for the Coronation parties and teas. The care home residents, Retirement Living tenants, community centre, dementia day centre and Supportive Communities tea parties members and volunteers were united for the Coronation. Care campuses looked like indoor street parties with conga lines and bunting with everyone singing along to cockney tunes and wartime favourites.
Local representatives from synagogues joined to Jewish Care community to begin celebrations with rosebush planting. Rebbetzen Shoshana Landau of Barnet United Shul visited Jewish Care’s Betty and Asher Loftus Centre in Friern Barnet to plant the King Charles III rosebush at the same location as where King Charles III (then Prince Charles) opened Jewish Care’s Rosetrees care home in 2001, which is now part of Jewish Care’s Betty and Asher Loftus Centre.
Rabbi Lew of Stanmore & Cannons Park United Synagogue joined residents, staff and volunteers to plant the rosebush planting at Jewish Care’s Sandringham. They read the new prayer by The Chief Rabbi for King Charles II and Queen Camilla with residents which was followed by a rousing round of the national anthem. Rabbi Katz of Edgware & Hendon Reform Synagogue congregation, led the ceremony with residents, community centre members and Retirement Living tenants at The Maurice and Vivienne Wohl Campus in Golders Green.
Hazel, a resident at Jewish Care’s Stella & Harry Freedman House, said, “the party was lovely and thank you for all that you do.”
Jewish Care’s Life President, President, Honorary Presidents, Chairman, Trustees, staff and volunteers have wished His Majesty King Charles III, Her Majesty Queen Camilla, and the entire Royal Family a hearty Mazel Tov on the occasion of the Coronation.
We have been delighted to celebrate this wonderful event across our resources and services together with our residents, tenants, members and clients and gladly share this joyous time with so many across the community and the country.
