MIKE is a youth leadership course by Jewish Care that runs for School Year 9’s onwards. It stands for Motivation, Inspiration, Knowledge, Education.

Our purpose is to enable the young people in the Jewish Community to become the next generation of leaders. We aim to do this through our activities and opportunities that educate them, empower them and prepare them for the future.

The MIKE course offers many volunteering opportunities within the community. The leadership course begins in Year 9, developing over four years into volunteering, Jewish heritage trips abroad and wide communal activities.

MIKE Rishon is our first year of MIKE that runs for Year 9’s. Participants are trained through these sessions as well as our residential weekend away and regular volunteering opportunities. In their first year of MIKE, Rishon participants learn the fundamentals of leadership, teamwork skills, communication skills and much more.

MIKE Sheni is our second year of MIKE that runs for Year 10’s. Participants are further trained through these sessions as well as through our residential weekend away and regular volunteering opportunities. In their second year, Sheni participants expand upon their existing leadership knowledge, including covering safeguarding, mental health, special educational needs and disabilities and more.

MIKE Sheli is our third year of MIKE that runs for Year 11’s. Participants are further trained through these sessions as well as through our residential weekend away regular volunteering opportunities. In their third year, Sheli participants further develop their leadership skills, including fundraising, stress management, understanding Jewish Care and more.

MIKE Va’ad is our final group of MIKE that runs for Year 12’s and 13’s. Participants complete their training through these sessions and a Jewish Heritage trip abroad.
