Residents, community centre members, staff, volunteers and relatives enjoyed preparing for and celebrating Succot this year, decorating the Succah’s with their own artwork and welcoming the community into their Succah’s in each Jewish Care home and community centre. Residents across care homes enjoyed tasting a variety of fruit for the harvest festival and visiting the Succah when the sun came out.
In Anita Dorfman House and Wolfson Assisted Living at Sandringham, residents, family members and staff got involved in the festival this year, creating carefully crafted decorations for the Succah and shaking the symbolic Lulav and etrog.
At Sunridge Court, residents enjoyed learning the messages behind Succot, as well as sharing happy Succot memories and singing uplifting songs together.
Rabbi Junik, Jewish Care’s Spiritual and Pastoral Leader, said, “On this last day of Succot, I want to say thank you to all the carers and staff across Jewish Care, for bringing the festival of Succot so beautifully and warmly to all. For many, it brought back memories of old, connecting them to families and friends, and for others it was an opportunity to create new Succot memories.”
“May the joy and togetherness inspire us as we go into our winter months and may we all experience a year full of blessings and success, only with the best of health.
Chag Sameach.”
