150 guests enjoyed a day of bridge organised by Jewish Care’s Bridge Extravaganza Committee last week. The event has now raised £2.2 million since it first began and the 26th Bridge Extravaganza held this week raised over £85,000. This will help to fund Jewish Care’s specialist dementia day centres, providing specialist support and care and dementia-friendly activities for people living with dementia and their relatives in a Jewish environment.
The day was held at The Landmark in Marylebone. Overall winners of the Bridge Extravaganza Duplicate Bridge Sarah & Arnold Morris Trophy were Jonathan Ellis & Natalie Sharp. The overall winners of the Friendly Duplicate Susan & Stephen James Trophy were David & Guilda Shamash.
Speaking after the event, Joint Chairs of the Committee, Patsy Bloom and Susie James, said, “It was special to be together for a day of bridge in these terrible times. We were very pleased to raise funds to support Jewish Care’s vital service for people living dementia.”
Jewish Care’s Director of Fundraising and Marketing, Ellisa Estrin, added, “We are so grateful to Patsy Bloom, Susie James and to all of the Bridge Extravaganza Committee who continue to dedicate themselves to raising funds for Jewish Care, and we thank the guests for their generous support.
“With the number of people living with dementia growing, these funds are even more critical to ensure our professional, experienced staff at our specialist dementia day centres can provide engaging activities and personalised care and support in a Jewish environment for people living with dementia and their relatives.”
