This year, 1 in 4 people at the Seder table will be living with mental illness or distress.

With your support this Pesach, we can respond to the unprecedented mental health challenge facing the Jewish community.

Over a quarter of our community are experiencing mental illness, distress or trauma.*

As we get together to sing, celebrate and tell the Pesach story around our Seder tables, thousands of Jewish people of all ages will also be struggling with their mental health.

Jewish Care and Jami have recently joined forces and become one organisation to tackle this immense challenge. Your donation will enable us to provide vital mental health services to those who need it most.

The impact of your support

Our Children and Young Person’s service offers one-to-one support in a safe, non-judgemental space.

“I was struggling with trust issues and post-traumatic stress disorder. It was making me feel like I wasn’t me anymore and I started to find things difficult with friends. I just felt sad and anxious. I started meeting Ciara (a Jami mental health practitioner) and we worked on different ways to help manage my anxiety. I love going to my sessions. They make me feel free.”

Brooke

Our residential care homes support adults in the community who are finding it difficult to cope.

“At 85 years old, I never thought I’d be so depressed and lonely that I no longer wanted to live. Sidney Corob House literally saved my life. The staff are incredible people, supporting me every day. I have my independence but feel safe here with plenty of people to be around. I’m no longer lonely.”

Sara

Our community hubs and Head Room social enterprise café provide a welcoming environment and social connection for people with long-term mental health difficulties.

“My mental illness kept me isolated from family and friends. Visiting the Jami hub in those dark days gave me what I needed most – a community and access to people who care.”

Joel

Other vital services we can provide, only thanks to your generosity include:

• suicide prevention and mental health first aid training • family and carer support • counselling • employment and vocational support • social work • volunteer befriending

This Pesach, please help us be there for those in our community struggling with mental illness or distress.
