Hettie, Vi & John Rubens House resident

(Care homes)

Ten years ago, Hettie came to live at Vi & John Rubens House after falling at home and fracturing her spine.  Hettie suddenly found herself using a wheelchair to get around, but staff at the home encouraged her to walk again and Hettie had the determination to do it.  Now, Hettie is walking again and living life to the full!

Hettie describes the staff and volunteers at the home as “just wonderful… nothing is ever too much trouble for them.”

Hettie loves to knit and now, with the help of the home’s staff and volunteers, she sells her very special scarves to visitors that come to the home, donating the proceeds to Jewish Care.
